Pasha Lee, a 33-year-old Ukrainian actor, was reportedly killed on Sunday in Irpin as Russia continues its invasion of the eastern European country.

Lee’s lastInstagram post on Fridayshowed him in Irpen wearing camouflage gear as he wrote in the caption (roughly translated to English): “For the last 48 hours there is an opportunity to sit down and take a picture of how we are being bombed, and we are smiling because we will manage and everything will be UKRAINE. WE ARE WORKING!!!”

The New York Timesreportedthat on Sunday, Russian forces fired mortar shells at a bridge in Irpin that was being used to evacuate people from the area, killing at least four civilians.

With NATO forces massing in the region around Ukraine, various countries have also pledged aid or military support to the resistance. Ukrainian PresidentVolodymyr Zelenskyycalled for peace talks — so far unsuccessful — while urging his country to fight back.

Putin insists Ukraine has historic ties to Russia and he is acting in the best security interests of his country. Zelenskyy vowed not to bend.

“Nobody is going to break us, we’re strong, we’re Ukrainians,“he told the European Unionin a speech in the early days of the fighting, adding, “Life will win over death. And light will win over darkness.”
