This week ’s American Horror Story was a wonderful practice session in excited attachment , and what happens when there is none . It ’s in all probability a bad sign when I ’d rather fall out with the extras handing out reverse jobs to Jim Morrison than the actual mould , is n’t it ? Ah well , at least we ’ll always have Constance .

One thing American Horror has n’t neglect at yet is render the goods on the soundtrack . The new sequence started with a bang blast “ Aquarius / Let the Sunshine In ” and set the stage for their blooming flashback . They even managed to put a fresh spin on this sometimes overused classic by bringing out the beat and zooming in on each gorgeous adolescent in slow motion , as she glided down the stair . It was hypnotic ( and that ’s why I picked it as the clip to represent this installment ) .

Plus this girl is just over - the - moonlight gorgeous . in any case , blah blah blowjobs for Jim Morrison — what , did you forget this show was on FX ?

Then comes the horror . The cat - eyed young lady are frightful bitch . ( No surprise there — when are the pretty girls ever nice in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk ’s stories ? ) They make play of the smart girls and take off for their Doors concert . Meanwhile a strange humanity shows up and murders both of the smart female child . Sure , it was “ scarey ” because view some creepo stab a knife into anyone is “ shivery . ” But I would n’t call any of this horror . In guild to be horrifying , this show needs to start killing off people in much more dread ways or AT LEAST give us a second to care about the quality — that way , it will elicit some sort of emotional reaction from the consultation . Like fear .

This is the existent problem with American Horror Story , why are we supposed to give care about the horrible can’t - stop - putting - my - penis - into - other - womanhood - or - I - start - cry married man , the token emo daughter or the clueless lady of the house ? This show throws peril at these three every four minutes , in the sort of spectre , bullies , murderers , ghost rapists and poisoned cupcakes ( none of which are especially scary Oh no what if she eat the barf cupcake and barfs ? ) There is too much generic “ panic ” and not enough “ like . ” Not yet , at least .

This episode was fundamentally Bryan Bertino ’s The Strangers , in which a pack of strangers stop into a couple ’s sequestrate summer home and slay the pair , slowly . It was very scary . American Horror Story ’s translation , not so much . First off there was no tangible risk because the specter that go in the home are now protecting the kinsperson ( they do that now ? ) and it ’s the SECOND sequence OF THE SEASON . There is NO WAY they were going to kill off the two main characters with some serial cause of death - revere HUMAN . ( BTW Mrs. Harmon and Baby Harmon were basically hold hostage in their own abode by a couple of teens who were ghost with the flashback murder , because apparently they wanted to revivify it or something . I do n’t recognise why , all the guy did was stab a adult female in a nurse ’s outfit , but whatever , each sequent cause of death worshiper to their own I guess ) .

No one died but the mass trying to kill the Harmons , there was never ever any real peril ever for this brace , and I ’m not trusted why anyone would think that there was . Also , Violet is now friend with the bully she ensnare in a basement with the trace . The roughneck ’s hair is turn over white and she has cryptic scars on her face , but that ’s all monster water under the demon bridge , I guess . Because now they are besties , because the tough ca n’t recount anyone she was hear to score blow from the miss who for good marred her face forever . THIS IS NOT A THING THAT HAPPENS EVEN IN FAKE HORROR SHOWS , PEOPLE .

But enough of the negative — have ’s sing about what was salutary from this workweek ’s instalment . I did like that we now have a go at it that Tate , Constance and Moira are work together , in some sort of horrendous ghost plan . I do n’t guess that Constance is a ghostwriter — maybe a medium or some rubble — but Tate and the housekeeper are clearly spirits . Watching these two get quick to clean up the bodies was both surprising and a bit of fun .

And more time with Constance is always a good affair , always . We even got to see inside her abode , and of course it looks like it was draw in out of a LX Better Homes and Gardens .

However , what I ca n’t believe is that Constance live in a home just like this . Why did Constance require to poison Violet ? Who cares , Violet is the defective ! It was good creepy fun . Plus we got to find out a little act more about her tragic desktop , and check out her sex activity biography — go on with your spoilt self and the male manikin , Constance ! This womanhood is nuts , dangerous and downright cruel ( she lock misfortunate Addy in that mirror press so she could retain on with her “ business meeting ” ) .

But the balance was just uncanny . Why is Dr. Ben still deal Tate , and why is he not completely freaked out that wherever he ladder , Denis O’Hare pops up order him he ’s hold up to mutilate his family ? Why is he allowing this conversation to even happen ? At least we get the obligatory Dylan chest of drawers dash . Hello ladies !

American Horror Story need to figure out what is scary , and what we ’ve construe too much of before . Or just expend sometime with the characters , specifically Constance . I ’m not gift up yet , but hopefully next week will be better . Hopefully the threesome of Tate , Moira and Constance will prove a ghostly plot has been brew . I ’m not sure why Tate “ needs ” to get his head shrunk by Dr. Ben but I ’m happy to find out more .
