But now we ’ve arrive confirmation of at least one major sticker in Peter Parker ’s side kick the bucket … and another do a grand return .

This is particularly the end of a long road for Octavius — who ’s technically been dead since 2012 , when he swapped his mind with Peter Parker ’s in his go breathing place in theinfamous Spider - Man # 700 . Long news report light : Otto spent several months in Peter ’s body pretend to be a harsher Spider - Man , eventually got kicked out of Peter ’s body by the lingering remnants of Peter ’s subconscious , secretly transferred his judgment into the soundbox of Peter ’s former robot supporter the Living Brain ( yes , that Living Brain ! ) , and then waseventually re - birth in a clone bodyduring Clone Conspiracy at the Jackal ’s hands . risible books , am I good ?
Sure , Otto has swapped one clone consistence for another — but the ultimate templet , unlike any other ringer Warren has created over his years as a supervillain , has no defects . Unlike Ben ’s original body , or the clones created throughout Clone Conspiracy , it does not slowly but for sure degrade . For all intents and purpose , Otto Octavius has been reborn : his original mind , in a make new ( and permanent ) body .
After suffer that setback , Ben actually rather conveniently care to stabilize his own decaying clone body , thanks to the magic plot machine soundwave Peter helped release in Clone Conspiracy # 5 to stop all the cloned individuals around the world from turning into piles of dust and/or flesh - crave zombie knockoff . This whole storyline has been sick . That ’s not Ben ’s only problem , however ; the death of most of the Clones he created — among them a whole army of clones of Warren — as the novel Jackal leaves the original Miles Warren alert and well .
Infuriated by thetorture Ben put him through , he quickly dons his original Jackal uniform and travel after his prized dead ringer for vengeance … and then quick gets killed by Ben , who let the burn debris of his former safehouse collapse on Warren , seemingly kill off his Maker for goodness .
I say seemingly because a ) this is a comic book and no one ever dies for honest , really , and b ) we do n’t in reality see Miles perish , it ’s just heavily implied . But while Ben Reilly is now back , he ’s not the only major twist to Spider - Man that Clone Conspiracy has finally yield us . One of Spider - Man ’s oldest villains now has a young trey on aliveness , and another has seemingly fallen .
That is , until a Spider - Man creative team decides that a cloning plot line is a bang-up mind again . Where knockoff story go , Miles Warren follows , so it ’s likely we ’ve not seen the last of him yet , despite Ben ’s best effort .
