There are mutter in the tech news that finally still tv camera will be supersede with video camera , and photographer will but pore through thousand of frames to line up the perfect slam . And curious if that day had already arrive , Fstopperspitted a Red Epic against a Hasselblad H3D-22 .
The results were surprising . Both cameras were given to famed headshot lensman Peter Hurley , who was already a fan of the 22 megapixel 48 - moment Hasselblad . But he was surprised to find that when picture from both the 14 megapixel 24 - second Red Epic and the Hasselblad were printed and compared , Hurley could scarce distinguish which came from which camera . There were subtle differences in astuteness of champaign and color fidelity that let his trained eye finally tell them aside , but for professional usance there was no discernible compromise in quality when shooting with the $ 80,000 Red Epic . Just a serious pickle in the budget afterwards .
