Police received multiple reports of a man with a firearm and shots being fired on East 57th St. and Linden Blvd. in East Flatbush around 6 p.m. local time Monday, the NYPD said in apress conferenceshortly after the incident.
Four officers who happened to be canvasing the area in an unmarked car saw a man chasing another man and a woman while shooting at them several times, the NYPD added. The on-site officers then jumped out of their car as several more shots were fired, the police added.
The officers subsequently shot at the gunman who was taken to Kings County Hospital and later pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
At the time, officers didn’t know the gunman’s reason for shooting at the two victims but suspected they had some sort of dispute. Another male, 60, was also shot in the area, however, authorities said they don’t know how he was injured.
