NASA isholding a crush group discussion on Thursday“to talk over an exobiology determination . ” Are they exit to announce that they ’ve found evidence of extraterrestrial life ?
Blogger Jason Kottke took a look at NASA ’s closet release , which touts “ an astrobiology finding that will bear upon the hunting for grounds of extraterrestrial living ” ( exobiology , besides being a coolheaded parole , is “ the subject field of the origin , organic evolution , statistical distribution and future of life in the universe ” ) , and decide to look into further by looking at the player ’ resume . So who are the participants ?
A geobiologist who ’s indite about “ geology and life on Mars ” ;
an oceanographer who ’s done extensive body of work on arsenic - based photosynthesis ;
a life scientist examine Titan , the prominent moon of Saturn , and its similarities to early Earth ;
and an ecologist investigate the “ chemistry of environments where life evolves . ”
Now , yes , obviously , throw in a grizzled marine and you ’ve drive the making of an awesome picture about discovering alien . But that ’s not ( the only rationality ) why Kottke thinks the proclamation will be about life on another macrocosm . Here ’s what he says :
So , if I had to guess at what NASA is going to reveal on Thursday , I ’d say that they ’ve get word arsenic on Titan and maybe even detect chemic grounds of bacterium utilise it for photosynthesis ( by following the elements ) . Or something like that . ( thx , sippey )
Of naturally , the announcement could be something totally different ! Or , it could be that NASA has been contacted by a militant raceway of space aliens and a certain - to - fail mission carry out by a ragtag and bobtail bunch of scientists is our only hope of survival of the fittest .
