The Atlanticrecently ran an articlethat shows how , with the proper perspective , almost every major Disney movie seems to have pro - mirthful themes . And given the company ’s support of its LGBTQ employees , the Atlantic speculates that Disney is eager to substantiate the gay community . But is the subtext really , there or are people grasping at straws ?
The Atlantic cites a whole slew of idea from Frozen that might be metaphors for the LGBTQ experience .
Elsa hiding her ice - powers could be read as a metaphor for the closet , the Oscar - winning “ get it Go ” plays likea coming - out anthem , and a character in the pic evokes the question of whether homosexuality is a option by inquiring of Elsa ’s power , “ born with it or excommunicate ? ”

The article also mentions picture like Dumbo and Pinocchio as illustration , summon Dumbo pick up to accept his own differences from the other elephant and Pinocchio not cognize how to “ act like a real boy . ” And more than that , almost every movie features characters wanting to marry mass that society suppose they should n’t be with ( I ’m not snuff it to go list them all . Basically take your pick ) .
But like most stories , Disney movies can be read many different way , disregarding of what their Almighty may have intended . But give the popularity of these movie , it seems more likely that they ’re craft to come across with as many people , in as many different ways , as possible . A story about a social pariah who is shunned for the direction they were born is a tale that any issue of minorities can identify with .
So maybe more than being pro any one particular group , Disney is just pro - acceptance ?
