But the tangible heart of every Futurama episode is its love of the skill fiction that inspire it , and “ thyroxine : The planetary ” shines when it comes to that . From cast - away sight gags to gross - out wittiness ( Jrrr lures Fry out of the shed with Feces Pieces ) , to take flight bikes powered by love ( that loveless aliens shin to keep afloat ) , the tribute is powerful on . The heart of sendup is also right on , with the absent parent not coming in the remnant to do the right thing by the kid , but fanatically insisting that being a dear parent intend forcing a tyke to murder their dear deary . It ’s a capital half - hour .
