Harper Voyager , one of the top skill fabrication and fantasy publishers on three continent , isopen to unagented submissions for the first two week of October . They ’ve put upa portal at HarperVoyagerSubmissions.com , which will go live Oct. 1 but already has submissions guidelines and other key info .
These submission are for Harper Voyager ’s novel e - script - only imprint , although theFAQsays “ [ t]here is the possibility that submissions will be published in print as well . ” They ’re wait to release one Harper digital master per calendar month , so they need 12 deed of conveyance for the next year . Books would be at the same time published in the U.S. , U.K. , and Australia .
Diana Gill , executive editor with Harper Voyager in the U.S. , tells io9 :
I ’m very mad about this — we halt accepting unsolicited submissions over 10 years ago after 9/11 ( back in the olden days when it was still paper in envelopes ! ) , so it ’s swell to be able to start again , especially work with my workfellow . One of the best parts of being an editor is finding a mythologic raw report , and one of the worst is having to call on it down because it wo n’t make the margins it require to . With more digital originals we can try more things — different genre , dissimilar takes , etc . — and write more voice , and doing so in conjunction with Em [ Coode ] and Deonie [ Fiford ] is even best . We ’re all looking forward to it … and stocking up on caboodle of caffeine !
The FAQ over on the submission portal does n’t name anything about payment , just say that the authors will experience all of Harper Voyager ’s usual newspaper column and promotional services “ at no toll to the author . ” We involve Gill about payment terms , and she says the item of betterment and royalty are still being worked out because of the different legal requirements in the three dissimilar countries . But there will definitely be royalties , and more details will be forthcoming soon .
And finally , Gill seemed reasonably optimistic about putting out photographic print edition of at least some of these e - book original :
Like our sister form Avon Impulse , we tender short print runs for many of our digital originals ( for instance , Jocelynn Drake ’s “ stick to Me , ” which we publish a few month ago ) . Avon Impulse has already moved several writer from digital original to print — we ’d love to do the same , and are expecting to do so .
