The first trailer for Terry Gilliam ’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus explains picayune more about the secret plan behind Heath Ledger ’s final bow . But it does offer glimpses of the flying jellyfish , atomic number 10 motel , and Christopher Plummer - shaped balloon fill Gilliam ’s world .
In the film , Christopher Plummer make for Dr. Parnassus , a traveling impresario who , a thousand years ago made a deal with the Devil : Parnassus could know perpetually , but any tike he had would become property of the Devil upon their 16th birthday . As Parnassus ’ girl Valentina border on her 16th birthday , the Devil render to amass . Ledger play Tony , a mysterious foreigner who suddenly joins the troupe and arouse Parnassus ’ hunch .
The trailer postulate us inside Parnassus ’ Imaginarium , a magical mirror that transports masses to strange and surreal worlds . We also get a tone at Tony ’s transformations after Ledger ’s untimely destruction direct to Johnny Depp , Colin Farrell , and Jude Law being cast as Tony ’s extra manikin . It ’s visually striking , to be trusted , but we ’ll have to wait to see if it all adds up to a flick .
