When the going gets tough,Savannah Chrisleyjust wants to lean on her momJulie Chrisleyfor advice. But such exchanges between the two look a bit different amid the Chrisley family matriarch’s imprisonment.
On the latest episode of herUnlockedpodcast, the 26-year-oldChrisley Knows Bestalum opened up about the challenges of not being able to speak to her parents with ease due to their current legal predicament.
“It’s tough going to visit. That’s something that is really tough because when I go and visit, at first, visiting was awesome. It was great because I just got to see them, I got to hug them, I got to love on them,” she explained on Tuesday’s episode. “And don’t get me wrong when I say this, I still love going and visiting and seeing my parents but the longer they’re there, the harder it is to visit because I know that I’m leaving them there. And that’s the tough part.”
In some cases, it’s been harder not having an easy way to talk to Julie, Savannah said, citing a particular instance when she was in need of relationship advice pertaining to her new beauRobert Shiver.
Savannah continued, “I look at my life now and I’m like, when my mom met my dad, my dad had two kids. And in a way, I’m like, weirdly reliving her life because obviously, my boyfriend has kids and there’s things that happen that I just want my mom’s advice on. I just want to hear how she would deal with it or what she went through and talk and vent and relate and get advice and learn how to show up better. And I just started crying.”

“I was like, ‘I just want to call mom right now,’ and I couldn’t call her. I don’t get to call her,” she added. “I just have to answer when she calls me and the longer they’re there in prison, I’m reminded of what I don’t have. And I think right now, that’s the tough part. And you’re also reminded of how slow our system is and how you just have to sit and wait. Your life is in someone else’s hands.”
Although the predicament her family is facing is “tough” and “sad,” Savannah said she is “finding the little wins in it.”
“I have so many awesome kids around that are going to cause me to have gray hair before I ever should. I have a great relationship, a great partner, great friends,” she concluded. “I have friends who show up as family. I have great people in my life who show up for me and that’s my win. So, I’m finding the positive in it.”
Julie, 50,reported to Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentuckyin January. Nearly two months prior, she and her husbandTodd Chrisley— who is at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida — weresentencedto a combined 19 years in prison for fraud. Their sentences have sincebeen reduced.
The longtime couple, who wed in 1996, began appealing their case in December. Last month, Savannah revealedthe appeals court granted their oral arguments.
“We get to go and argue why mom and dad should be home,” she explained inan Instagram video. “So, God is good. Thanksgiving win!”
Giving an additional update on the appeal, Savannah said on Tuesday’s podcast that “winning this little step on the appeal is such a great feeling, such a great win.”
“I don’t want to get my hopes up too much though because I think right now, I’m just in a place of like, alright, this is good but I still don’t want to be let down and I don’t want to get my hopes up to then have to grieve the loss later,” she explained. “So, I’m just hoping for the best, praying for the best and that will be the week of March 25th. So, mom and dad, hopefully, fingers crossed, can be home in April, May. Sometime next summer.”

Savannah made her relationship with Shiver — a father and ex-football playerwhose wife, Lindsay, allegedly plotted his murder—Instagram-officialon Nov. 4.
“I’m just so grateful to havesuch an amazing person in my lifethat shows up and loves and cares and is a positive influence on the kids,” she previously told PEOPLE of Robert. “I want to have as much respect for him and his situation as possible because he has three amazing little boys that are going to have to see and hear things one day.”
