President Donald Trumpis back on the green and away from Washington, D.C.
According to a White House pool report, the president arrived at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida, shortly before 10 a.m.
The outing markedTrump’s first golf game in 69 days, according to Yahoo Sports. Before the shutdown, “It was rare that he would go more than a week or two without playing a round, either heading to his private club in Virginia or flying to New Jersey or Florida to play at one of his clubs,” reportedThe Washington Post, which has made a chart of Trump’s golf outings during his presidency.
Seemingly enjoying his day in the sun, Trump went on to share asmiling photo of the trioon Twitter, captioning the image, “Great morning at Trump National Golf Club.”
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said, “Today the President is playing a round of golf with two legendary golfers Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.”
The president’s motorcade left the golf club at 2:39 p.m., and Trump arrived back at Mar-a-Lago shortly after 3:00 pm., according to the pool report.
Along the way, the motorcade passed several supportive signs, as well as a man repeating the phrase “President Trump loves you” into a bullhorn.
While much has been made of Trump’sfriendship with Woodsover the years, Nicklaus also has ties to the Republican, and was responsible fordesigning the club’s 18-hole course, according to its website.
Nicklaus won 18 major championships throughout his career — the current record — while Woods has won 14.
In a 2017blog post on his website, Woods — who has been friends with the president for years — spoke admiringly of Trump’s skills on the green.
However, when it comes to politics, Woods has made sure to avoid commenting on any controversial issues that have defined Trump’s presidency.

When previously asked about Trump’s opinions on immigration and race relations, Woods simply said they should“respect” the president.
“He’s the President of the United States,” Woods said in August 2018, according toASAP Sports. “You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”

Trump is expected to return to D.C. on Sunday, two days before he delivers the State of the Union address, where he is expected to address hiscontroversial push for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker, has dismissed a border wall as “immoral” and “ineffective.”
Trump was photographed alongside his wifeMelania Trump, 48, and their 12-year-old son Barron as they departed Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport on Friday — leaving the cold D.C. temperatures behind.
The first family touched down at 6:54 p.m. ET, according to a White House pool report.
Though the Trumps carried umbrellas to avoid rain in Palm Beach on Friday, cloudy skies were expected as the beach town reached a high of 78 degrees on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Midwest and Northeast are warming up following the polar vortex thatclaimed the lives of 21 people.

It’s the president’s first vacation since the government was temporarily reopened after the 35-day government shutdown, the longest in American history.
Trump was last at Mar-a-Lago just before Thanksgiving but strategically chose to stay in Washington for the Christmas and New Years holidays during the shutdown.
“I am all alone (poor me) in the White House,” he tweeted in part on Christmas Eve.
The family had originally planned to spend more than two weeks at Mar-a-Lago over the winter holidays, but Mr. Trump tweeted that he wascanceling his trip to Floridahours after the shutdown began on Dec. 22.
